Building Our Trust
These are exciting times for the Tamar Community Trust, and we are seeking your support to help steer our work forward.
With the showcase River Tamar Walkway & Wetland project in full swing at Calstock, alongside opportunities to maintain and enhance other key Tamar Valley AONB sites, including Wacker Quay, Okel Tor and the Tamar Trails, there’s never been a better time to get involved.
We create and coordinate practical groundwork opportunities, as well as a training and skills programme to invest in the highly-valued group of volunteers who keep sites maintained and routes accessible for visitors and the local community throughout the year.
The Tamar Community Trust is looking for (up to 3) new Trustees from a wide range of backgrounds, to complement and strengthen our existing board. This is a great opportunity for anyone looking to make a positive contribution to conserving and enhancing the natural beauty and accessibility of the Tamar Valley.
In particular, the Trust is looking for people with the following skills or experience;
Legal & Business
Project management
Environmental & Conservation
Heritage
Community Engagement
Administration & Good Governance
£ Finance & Fundraising
The Trust meets on a monthly basis and Trustees usually contribute a few hours of their time each month, depending on projects and availability. We’ll provide a clear induction for you to get to know our Trustees, partners and projects.
About the Tamar Community Trust
A partner organisation of the Tamar Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the Tamar Community Trust is a registered charity. We were formed in April 2009, with objectives of:
- Promoting sustainable development and regeneration in the Tamar Valley;
- Advancing the education of the public about the landscape, sustainable development, protection, enhancement and rehabilitation of the environment of and the history and heritage of the Tamar Valley; and
- Advancing environmental protection or improvement.
We aim to meet these objectives mainly by commissioning and coordinating programmes of practical tasks, such as maintaining, creating and enhancing access trails, building bridges, erecting signs and benches, managing woodland and other habitat, and more.
