We are aware that Cornwall Council are running offering some days that are free for parking in some of their car parks.
Although we work with Cornwall Council, the Gunnislake car park is managed by the Parish Council and is NOT one of the ones that is part of the scheme.
We will explore how our signage can be clearer and we are trying to support those people who were issued with a parking fine last Saturday , however there is no evidence that Gunnislake was listed as a car park with free parking so we may not be able to overturn any penalty notices that were issued.
We offer a free period of 2 hours (please do obtain a ticket) and a standard charge of £3.00 for any time over 2 hours.
It’s a shame that Gunnislake car park is not included on the Just Park wallet scheme operated by Cornwall Council. It seems strange that you can use that scheme to park for the day in places like Bude and Fowey for £2.23 while visitors to Gunnislake always have to pay £3.00
We believe that – generally – our car park offers better value: there is a two hour free period and residents can have permits for £120 per year. The maintenance costs of any car park costs councils money but the Parish Council took on the management of the Car Park to try to keep costs to a minimum for local people and to discourage cars from being abandoned and taking up spaces.
What are the terms for Blue Badge holders please
Blue badge users are required to pay the normal parking fee unless the vehicle is registered under Cornwall Council’s exemption scheme or the parked vehicle is especially adapted for the benefit of the driver. There is a two hour free session (no return within 4 hours) between 0900-1700: vehicles displaying a valid blue badge are entitled to an extra hour of free parking.
