We are aware that a number of vessels are starting to build up again on the Waterfront. We are looking into installing a canoe storage but taking time to find the right location. In the meantime, please could you remove the canoes and kayaks that have been left on the Waterfront – they cause an obstruction to paying mooring holders, they are unsightly and it is unfair on those that pay an annual fee.
Please could we ask that these are removed by Monday 27 June 2022 or we will undertake formal proceedings to have them removed as fly tipped items, under Section 33 of the Environment Protection Act 1990.
Boats left – without prior agreement – tied to the pontoon for more than two low waters will also be removed as they cause a hinderance and should only be accessible to people visiting the area for a short while or the Pleasure Boat.
Thank you for your co-operation.
Could you not put a canoe rack on the public quey bellow the gallery. Loots of space there and out of the way?
We did look at that and initially thought it would be a great place but having measured it up we felt it was too tight to get the canoes and kayaks on and off the racks – especially with the parking spaces down there. We would like to have seen that as a better used water craft facility. We are now looking at the area at the back of the village hall – (pre-school end) it is currently overgrown and seems to attract litter so this may be a good spot, out of sight but with the security system of the village hall in place.
