Over recent weeks there has been an increase in reports of the illegal dumping of tyres in Devon and Cornwall most recently at a Forestry site near Bodmin. This is likely to be as a result of the recent closure of a tyre recycling plant in East Cornwall and there are concerns that the trend may continue.
Devon and Cornwall Police rural affairs officer and the Environment Agency are asking farmers, landowners and the public to be on alert and report the illegal dumping of tyres via the Council fly tipping reporting process and via the Environment Agency 24hr incident hotline 0800 80 70 60 The rural affairs team would advise all to ensure that the appropriate security is present and remain vigilant for suspicious activity. Crime prevention advice can be found on the Devon and Cornwall Police website. https://www.devon-cornwall. Anyone able to offer information regarding incidents are asked to email 101@dc.police.uk or by calling 101. Information can also be passed anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers by calling 0800 555 111 or reporting online at www.crimestoppers-uk.org. Thank you |
