Tamar Valley National Landscape Celebrates 30 Years of Outstanding Beauty and Partnership
The Tamar Valley National Landscape will mark 30 years since its designation as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with a special 30th Anniversary Annual Partnership Forum at St Mellion Hotel on Wednesday 12 November 2025 (12:30–4pm) and all are welcome.
The free event will bring together our partnership and local organisations, land managers, community groups and residents to celebrate and reflect upon three decades of collaborative work to protect and enhance the valley’s remarkable landscape, wildlife and heritage.
Speakers will include Lord Robin Teverson, Chair of the Cornwall & Isles of Scilly Local Nature Partnership; Rob Price, Environment Agency; Rebecca Hunt, National Landscapes Association; Sally Weston, Cornwall & West Devon Mining Landscape Partnership; and Elaine Hayes, Plymouth Sound National Marine Park.
The forum will also feature the presentation of the Valley Champions Awards, which recognise individuals and groups who go above and beyond in conserving, restoring or enhancing the natural beauty and ecological health of the Tamar Valley.
Will Darwall, Manager, Tamar Valley National Landscape said:
“For three decades, people across Cornwall and Devon have worked together to care for this extraordinary valley — from farmers and foresters to volunteers and community groups. This anniversary is not just a celebration of the landscape, but of the people who make it thrive. The Tamar Valley’s story is one of partnership, resilience and shared passion for nature, heritage and place.”
Martin Howlett, Chair of the Tamar Valley National Landscape and local farmer said:
“As someone who lives and farms in the valley, I’ve seen first-hand how collaboration has helped us protect what makes this place so special. The Tamar Valley’s beauty comes from its people and their activities as much as its scenery. This milestone reminds us how vital it is that we continue working together to safeguard its future for generations to come.”
