Please could residents across the Parish be considerate when leaving their rubbish bags out? They should not be left out overnight as they often get opened with contents being strewn around leaving – not only an unsightly mess – but a potential environmental hazard. We know if will not be easy to obtain seagul- proof bags at the moment which makes it even more important to place your rubbish securely.
Cornwall Council state that “It is every householder’s responsibility to protect their own rubbish until it is collected” which also means that if the contents of the rubbish can be traced back to a household or individual they may be liable for a penalty.
Thank you everyone for your help in this matter. With reduced services operating at the moment every little thing you – as individuals can do – will help.
Thank you Sue, this week a bag was put out in Calstock on Sunday near wall by small gate into carpark, not a recognised collection point, the ducks and dogs had a grand time with usual mess the men kindly cleared up. There were also 2 bags of mixed recycling left by bin men with a note of explanation, now both thankfully retrieved, hopefully by owner who maybe has learned a lesson?!
