A38 Glynn Valley – Overnight closures for maintenance works

We’ll shortly be carrying out routine maintenance on the A38 at Glynn Valley, Cornwall.

The A38 will be closed overnight between Turfdown Cross and Twelvewoods roundabout (at the junction with the A390 at Dobwalls).

We will be working over five consecutive nights from Monday 17 November – Friday 21 November (8.30pm – 6am).

The works

We carry out routine maintenance of this stretch of road twice a year. We’ll clear verges and drains to prevent flooding, carry out small sections of surfacing, clean signs to ensure good visibility, trim vegetation, repair any accident damage and refresh road markings and road studs where needed.

Additionally, we’ll also remove Ash dieback, repair bank, fence, and sign damage and replace marker posts. Cornwall Council will also use the closure to clear litter.

Diversions

Through traffic will be diverted as follows:

All light vehicles travelling both eastbound and westbound will be diverted via Lostwithiel (see orange route on map). HGV’s travelling westbound will also be diverted via this route.

  • HGVs over 20 tonnes travelling eastbound will be diverted via the A30 to Launceston and then onto the A390 to rejoin the A38 at Carkeel roundabout (see blue route on map).

Please see diversion map below. Please plan ahead and allow plenty of time for your journeys.

Access to Bodmin Parkway Station, and properties within the closure

Access to Bodmin Parkway Station will be maintained throughout the works. Drivers needing to enter or exit Bodmin Parkway station overnight will need to travel via Turfdown roundabout.

Access will be maintained to properties within the closure.

Dates may change at short notice due to poor weather conditions or operational reasons. If we’re unable to complete our work as planned, we may need to continue beyond the dates stated above.
