Message from the Head of Public Affairs, Great Western Railway

Just a quick reminder that the Gunnislake branch line will be closed from Monday (16 November) through to Thursday (19 November) to allow for infrastructure work.

This will mean replacement buses are operating.  To minimise the disruption, we will operate on two routes with one bus service between Plymouth/Bere Ferrers/Bere Alston and the other service between Plymouth/Calstock/Gunnislake.

Journeys will be longer.  Buses are also subject to strict social distancing and capacity is limited.  To help we have added dedicated school bubble buses for Devonport High School for Girls and Devonport High School for Boys.  These buses operate at different times.  Information has been sent to parents from the schools but do let me know if you need further information on this.

We also have a standby bus and if capacity does exceed the permitted limit on the buses, we will order taxis.  This will however add further time to journeys.

Trains will continue to operate to Devonport, Dockyard, Keyham, and St Budeaux Ferry Road but will not call at St Budeaux Victoria Road.  Please check before travel however as train times may have changed.

There is more about the planned work on a dedicated Gunnislake page on our website https://www.gwr.com/travel-updates/planned-engineering/tamar-valley-line
