We have had reports of more dog fouling across the Parish, particularly on country lanes behind and behind Tamar Meadows. Most dog owners are conscientious, caring and responsible. However those who are not picking up after their dogs are giving other dog owners a bad name.

Cornwall Council have introduced a Dog Fouling Public Spaces Protection Order  that covers all of Cornwall and ensures that all areas have the same levels of enforcement for dog fouling.  This covers all land (except for Forestry Commission Land) in the open air to which the public are entitled access.

If your dog fouls in any public area you are required to clean up and properly dispose of it. Failing to clean up after your dog will result in a fixed penalty being issued.  This is for £100 or prosecution and, if found guilty, a maximum fine of £1000 may be ordered.

Cornwall Council are encouraging people to report dog fouling and have an online form to do so:

Their aim is to investigate all complaints received with a primary focus being targeted at dog fouling hotspots. The level of service provided can vary depending upon the quality of information reported to us. For example they would be in a better position to take action should you be able to provide a full description of what happened, including:

  • Date
  • Time
  • Location
  • What you witnessed
  • Description/identity of the dog/owner and as much information as possible about the incident
  • Any information regarding the offender. This could include
    • name / address (if known)
    • vehicle registration number or
    • any other identifying feature

Dog bins cost the parish council money to purchase and to have emptied. We have 46 bins across the whole of the parish.

Bagged dog mess can be disposed of in domestic general waste.

Please, please take your dog mess home with you if you are not near to one of the 46 dog bins.

There really is NO EXCUSE to leave dog mess for someone else to tread in it.
