FROM GREAT WESTERN RAILWAY

We have just issued the media release below confirming that Network Rail will be closing the line through Dawlish and Teignmouth at 0330 tomorrow. The line will remain closed until lunchtime following a Met Office weather warning.

Rail services will operate between Newton Abbot, Paignton, Plymouth and Penzance, and from Exeter to Bristol, Taunton and London, and we will have bus services between Newton Abbot and Exeter but these will be limited, and we are offering customers the opportunity to travel on Thursday if they prefer, or they can claim a full refund.

The line will re-open following inspection and services should return to normal from Wednesday lunchtime.

Network Rail’s Managing Director Mark Langman has issued the following statement “Safety is our priority and owing to expected extreme weather tomorrow no services will be able to run through Dawlish and Teignmouth in the morning. Strong winds and high tides are expected and once the poor weather has passed our engineers will inspect the railway and reopen the line once it is safe to do so. We apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank passengers for their patience.”

We will keep you updated and appreciate any help you can give in spreading the message.
