After over five years of work, the Calstock Parish Neighbourhood Development Plan has been submitted to Cornwall Council and has passed legal compliance checks. A further round of public consultations will begin shortly.

The revised version of the NDP was submitted to Cornwall Council in June and the legal compliance check has been signed off. The next stage is for Cornwall Council to send it out for its Regulation 16 Consultation.  This would normally be a six-week process but due to the ongoing Covid-19 restrictions, it will run for a twelve-week period.  Referendums are being postponed until May 2021, but a post-examination amended plan will carry significant weight in making planning decisions.

Cllr Alastair Tinto, Chairman of the Neighbourhood Development Plan Committee said “this is a terrific milestone for Calstock Parish Council and the members of the community who have worked so hard on this plan.  It has taken over 5 years of commitment and effort.  The plan was shaped by public feedback and community engagement and reflects the strong views that the landscape, heritage, and character of our local area should be protected.  The Plan allows for slow but steady growth within the settlement boundaries and encourages fully affordable social housing.  I would like to thank all members of the committee who have worked tirelessly on this, members of the pubic who have engaged in the process and the Parish Council for supporting this piece of work”.
